Due to the ability of the IR scanner to produce high resolution
reflectograms having both a high definition of the finest details and a
wide range of grey shades, it is now possible to obtain high quality prints
of the reflectograms in natural scale by using ink-jet printers or plotters.
These reproductions allows the IR image of the painting to be seen as a whole,
an optimal working condition for art historians and restorers.
Thanks to a collaboration between our Institute, the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and the firm Falcon Instruments,
the commercial version of the IR scanner is currently being built.
