The activity of our research group in the field of diagnostic dates back to the late '70s.

Since then, we have been working on nondestructive testing of works of art.

Holography and thermography were among the first techniques used.

Later, infrared reflectography was performed with the design of a special device for high resolution IR imaging..

In 1999 we opened an optical laboratory "on the field". Indeed, the structure is located inside the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, Fortezza da Basso, in Florence.

Here we work in conjunction with top-level restorers and art historians, and our techniques are used daily.
This is the best workbench for testing and validating our diagnostic solutions and methods.

On march 2001 we opened a laboratory in Venice, hosted by the Soprintendenza, at the Scuola Vecchia della Misericordia.
